What is OMA:

An evidence-based program based on an understanding of dementia & the needs of persons living with dementia.

  • Freely express themselves/positive emotions
  • Social interaction with trained volunteers
  • “Failure free” creation of complex abstract art
  • An informal coffee group will be available for caregivers.

Who should attend OMA?

  • Persons with moderate to severe memory loss

Who should volunteer?

  • Someone who is positive, flexible, patient, respectful, responsible, sociable and able to listen.
  • Volunteers do not need to have an art background.
  • Volunteers who receive specialized training work 1:1 with the “artists” – the free class meets for one hour once a week for 6 weeks.
