Countryside Duck Derby made a big splash in 2025.

QUACK QUACK! That’s “THANK YOU” in duck—and we have so many to thank!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, businesses, and volunteers, the Duck Derby made a splashy comeback this year!

We’re deeply grateful to those who helped cover startup costs, including:
Pierre New Car Dealers Association, BankWest, Patti Peterson, ConeAg, AFLAC, Avera, and Monica Harding.

Huge thanks also go to the Countryside Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers who worked tirelessly to get those ducks adopted. The Oahe Quakers Duck Derby Committee did amazing work planning, sorting, and counting ducks—and making sure the race course was ready for action!

Thank you to every single community member who adopted a duck—your support keeps the fun (and fundraising) afloat.

On race day, a round of applause goes to:
DRG Dakota Cruiser, Sadie and Allen Goodman, the John Morris family, Todd and Scott Leiferman families,  and Mary Weinheimer and the dozens of helpful community members who jumped in to rescue any stuck ducks so the whole flock could finish together.

A special quack of thanks to those who helped run the Kids Duck Pond—what a hit!

Your participation and support help fund essential Countryside programs, including:

  • Travel and lodging assistance for cancer patients
  • Memory screenings
  • Hospice support

With perfect weather, a dedicated crew, and plenty of laughs, this year’s Duck Derby was a success from start to finish. We’re already hatching plans for next year’s race—and we hope to see you there!

See you next summer!

Thank you for being a part of the Countryside Duck Derby event.  All proceeds benefit Countryside programs – Pennies for Robert, St. Benedict’s Guest House and Memory Center.
