OMA
What is OMA:
An evidence-based program based on an understanding of dementia & the needs of persons living with dementia.
– Freely express themselves/positive emotions
– Social interaction with trained volunteers
– “Failure free” creation of complex abstract art
– An informal coffee group will be available for caregivers.
Who should attend OMA?
– Persons with moderate to severe memory loss
Who should volunteer?
– Someone who is positive, flexible, patient, respectful, responsible, sociable and able to listen.
– Volunteers do not need to have an art background.
– Volunteers who receive specialized training work 1:1 with the “artists” – the free class meets for one hour once a week for 6 weeks.
